Quick and easy guidelines to follow that can start you on your journey to a healthy, tone figure!
1. Avoid carbohydrates in the morning, and ideally lunch as well. Save them for later in the day (this will be a topic for later conversation).
2. Consume a glass of lemon, or apple cider vinegar, water as soon as you wake up, followed by a large glass of plain water. This will go a long way towards meeting your daily water intake, as well as help clear any acidic build-up in your body (it sounds like an oxymoron, I know, but trust me!).
3. Train intensely with “heavy” weights, i.e. choose a weight that is heavy, but does not force you to “cheat”. This will help burn off excess fat, as well as build stronger muscles. More muscle means more calories burned per day. Two birds with one stone!
4. Not all foods are equal. A 350-calorie donut is most certainly not as nutritious as a 350-calorie chicken salad. Choose foods that your mother would be proud to feed you in front of company!
5. Veggies, all day every day! This is probably the most underrated, and underutilized tip. Veggies provide a natural source of vitamins, fiber, and other weight loss enabling material to your diet. They’re priceless!
6. Avoid processed sugar at all costs, there is absolutely no room for it in your diet! This does not include fruit, so a handful of berries is always recommended for their obvious health benefits.
The American Council on Exercise considers the average man to have 25-31%, and women to have 20-24%, body fat, it becomes apparent why most people don’t see the body they wish to have (Body Fat Percentage, 2011).
In addition, looking at the pro’s such as fitness models, during a photoshoot, will be around 5-8% for men, and 10-12% for women, achieving a photoshoot ready body is unrealistic for the general population (not to mention that it is not recommended for health reasons!)
